Hafal hosts annual autumn conference

Hafal’s work across the 22 counties of Wales was showcased at the charity’s “Road to Recovery” autumn conference which took place in Builth Wells yesterday.

The conference marked the culmination of Hafal’s “Road to Recovery” 2010 campaign which saw a VW microbus travel to all the counties of Wales to find out what service users and carers want from local services.

The conference, which was attended by two hundred delegates, featured a number of seminars during the day on, amongst other topics, employment, carers and young people’s issues.

Visitors were also able to explore 22 interactive county exhibitions showcasing the wide range of work undertaken by Wales’ principal charity for people with serious mental illness and their carers.

Hafal Chair Elin Jones concluded the conference by paying tribute to Hafal staff. She said: “Thank you to everyone who works for Hafal. When the days are dark, when you feel alone, when you don’t think you will recover, you are there to say to clients: ‘Yes you can, you can do it and we will do it together.'”
