Discrimination against carers to become illegal

Minister for Women and Equality Harriet Harman MP has announced the Government will shortly end discrimination against carers.

A written statement issued by the Minister on April 1st stated the change will be included in the Government’s Equality Bill which will be published later this month.

Government report highlights

“Those with schizophrenia are 90% more likely to get bowel cancer, 42% more likely to have breast cancer, have higher rates of diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and respiratory disease and on average die 10 years younger than counterparts without mental health problems.”

New LHB chairs appointed
