Hannah Thomas, BBC Wales Script Executive and Producer of the long-running Welsh soap opera Pobol y Cwm recently met Hafal service users and staff.
Hannah’s visit was organised by Hafal’s Young People’s Information Hub in conjunction with the Equality and Human Rights Commission. The purpose of the visit was for Hannah to discover more about the work that Hafal does so she could inform BBC Wales’ writers and journalists about the best way to cover mental health issues in drama or in the news.
Commenting on her visit Hannah said: “It was inspiring to meet with members of the Hafal team who work with such dedication to help people who have serious mental illness.
“I really enjoyed going to Head Office and to Hafal’s project in Swansea; I was amazed at the variety of different activities that are on offer for people there, from guitar lessons to T-Shirt printing. I wish all the team continued success in the future.”
